Toys for Chihuahuas Archives

How many times a week do I have to walk my chihuahua?

Toni I you're the morron =)

My mom bathes her long haired toy chihuahua all the time, and recently the receptionist at the vet told her she should be getting a bath a maximum of once a month. Mom doesn't think this is right and bathes her once a day or once every two days so that the dog will smell nice and not 'like a dog'. (This is her first indoor pet and she's absolutely in love with her). However, she does use Johnson's baby shampoo and not a pet shampoo to bathe her, figuring that it's gentle enough for newborn humans so the dog should not suffer any ill effects?

She wants to hear thoughts from other long haired toy chihuahua owners, if possible. Thank you.

toy breeds. What's with that? I fear a vast majority of people who get these "teacup chihuahuas" or "micro-mini diddly do dahs" aren't even thinking of them as dogs....but moving stuffed animals. Then they are totally overwhelmed that they have living things that have minds of their own, eat, breathe, pee and poop and whine and bark and bite. I am just overwhelmed by the LACK of mentality
Diane..thank you for not taking offense..and thank you for your positive comment!! Hopefully some "little dog" owners will heed your words! Isn't it just very very sad? You must particularly be frustrated!

and yes! Pit bull folks too! I don't understand the mentality that goes deaf, dumb and blind over an "underdog" and jumps on a bandwagon!

I just received a toy Chihuahua (2yrs old) as a gift and we purchased Iams toy/small breed dog food, and she has barely touched it. What should I do?

they were pomeranians, yorkshires, chihuahuas, and toy american eskimos. they can be teacup size it doesn't matter. I love little dogs.
they can be teacup size or not it doesn't matter. also i would need to know your addy in case i decide to get one

(before everyone starts yelling at me-this is not an opinion on if toy chihuahuas are a true breed-this has nothing to do with what I am asking. Please stick to the question at hand. Thank you!)

She is 1 year old but very tiny. She has been trained on pee pads but I want to install a doggie door so she can go in and out into the backyard to go potty. We have a very small backyard so she shouldn't be scared but she is. I have been trying to move her pee pads further and further away from the old spot inside the house and keep moving it towards the sliding glass door. Any other suggestions? Please don't say trainer or petsmart class because I can not afford it right now. Thank you for everyones respect in their answers before hand.

She is only 8 months and I have not had her spayed.

He is very small, but very playful and active! He rips plushie toys to bits! Even slightly hard plush toys! Plastic toys/balls/bones etc doesn't appeal to him much, and plays with them for one day then just leaves them lying about the house.

What should we get him?
He loves his food, so the sort of treats I mean are any toys containing food substances in them! Such as flavoured stuff :)

Also, he has very sharp teeth (he bit my brother in law and he bled, he doesn't like him xD)
