About three months ago I rescued a 2-year-old 9 pound Chihuahua named Ella. She is loveable, caring, and very well trained. The only other dog in the house was an almost 1-year-old Yorkie named Austin who wasn’t quite 4 pounds. Austin (Yorkie) had some health conditions including seizures. This did not stop him from acting like a normal puppy but it did create two emergency vet visits. Being a puppy he tended to play with Ella a lot and even though they would sometimes get rowdy I still cannot accept the following: On Monday when my roommate came home she discovered poop all over the ground and couldn’t find Austin. (Giving her the impression that he could have possibly have had another seizure) She looked in the crate down stairs and found him “sleeping” she tried to wake him up and discovered that he had passed. That night she buried him. On Wednesday, she decided to unbury him and took him to have an autopsy done. The results came back that he had what she said was a bite in his skull with “fresh” blood that was caused by another dog. Even though Ella was the only other dog around, is there anyway possible that this could be a mistake. Is it possible for a Chihuahua to cause that much damage to a Yorkie’s skull? Is it possible for there to be a bite that could go that deep with out any blood on the outside of the dog, on the ground, or in the cage? Furthermore, is it possible to do an autopsy that much later after death in a dog and still be completely accurate? My roommate wants me to get rid of my dog or move out so that she can get another; therefore I am desperate for answers. I refuse to get rid of my dog that has already been through so much in her short life. Please help me with whatever you know...Thank You!
